'Ireland's
Most Northerly Point' OPEN ALL YEAR
Sandrock Holiday Hostel is a recently purpose built hostel situated
above the small fishing pier at Port Ronan with ever changing breathtaking
spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean [White Strand Bay], the
headlands of Inishowen and Fanad Peninsula's and the Highlands of
Donegal.
The
proprietors, Margaret
and Rodney, offer modern holiday hostel accommodation at this
premier scenic location which is a perfect base for touring,
walking or cycling. In common with other tourist hostels we
provide quality budget holiday accommodation. We can accommodate
up to 20 guests in two comfortable ensuite dormitories. Each
dormitory
has large bunk beds [duvets and pillows are provided] two showers,
two wash hand basins and a toilet. There is an additional toilet,
shower and wash hand basin for persons with limited mobility.
The cost is
€10.00 pppn .
[ There is and additional charge of €1.25 for bed
sheet hire, if guests do not have their own sleeping bag or
sheet.]
There is a double self-catering kitchen equipped with utensils,
hobs, microwave ovens, sinks etc and a solid fuel range with
an additional oven and cooking facilities. Utensils and instructions
are available for cooking locally caught fish [salmon when in
season] lobsters, crabs, mussels and oysters! There are spectacular
views available from a comfortable dining and lounge area, shared
by all guests.
A private car park and cycle shed is available for guests. Cycle
hire is also available - at hostel - at special rates for guests!
We are Tourist Board Approved and are members of IHH and IHO
[Hostel organisations]. We welcome any enquiries and will give
advice on other local accommodation [if ours is not suitable]
and the daily transport facilities to Malin Head from places
like Dublin, Belfast, Letterkenny and Derry.

| Malin
Head is renowned for spectacular scenery, unhurried hassle
free area, welcoming friendly community with bars and shops
that do not close until 1am. Bar food and restaurant [open
9am to 9-30pm] facilities available all year. Walking
routes are available at the hostel which highlight the local
points of interest and facilities e.g. where to collect semiprecious
stones, where to buy local fish etc., etc. Directions to hostel:

- follow all signs to 'Malin Head' or 'Inishowen 100' from
Carndonagh {Locally abbreviated to 'Carn'}.
Directions:
When near Malin Head you will pass the 'Malin Head Hostel'
on your left. At the Crossroads Inn turn left - still following
the sign
to 'Malin Head'. At signpost '2 kms Malin Head' follow sign
to 'Port Ronan'. The Sandrock Holiday Hostel is on the right
at the shore. Buses: Ask for, "Sandrock Hostel, Port Ronan".
You will be dropped off at the Crossroads Inn. Turn right
and follow road to Port Ronan. If in difficulties telephone
hostel from Crossroads Inn.

connections telephone hostel. BUSES DAILY FROM DUBLIN [Parnell Square]
Departs 5.45pm Mon to Sat with additional buses at 3pm Friday and
2pm Sunday direct to Carndonagh [Carn].
Phone hostel for pick-up before leaving Dublin.
Lough Swilly Buses direct to Malin Head: Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat in Winter
